Debris and Ecosystem
Debris, encompassing the remnants of destruction like rubble, litter, and discarded garbage, poses a substantial threat to ecosystems. Billions of pounds of pollutants infiltrate the oceans annually, affecting beaches and marine life. The debris, whether washing ashore or accumulating in gyres, disrupts the delicate balance of marine ecosystems. Ecosystems, comprised of living and non-living elements, face human-induced threats, exemplified by activities jeopardizing the Amazon rainforest. While ecosystems can recover, the toll on species is undeniable. Landfills, a significant source of debris, can contaminate soil and harm plant and animal life. Fortunately, restoring ecosystems is within our grasp through education and responsible practices, presenting an imperative task to safeguard Earth's biodiversity.
